Solar Panel Price in Karachi Today

Karachi is the cheapest place in Pakistan to buy solar panels, and the reason is boring rather than clever. The containers land at Karachi Port. Every panel that ends up in Lahore, Islamabad or Peshawar was first sitting in a warehouse here, and every kilometre it travels after that gets added to somebody’s price.

Right now, A-grade Tier-1 N-type modules in Karachi are trading at roughly Rs 40 to Rs 43.5 per watt. Upcountry cities are running two to four rupees higher on the same stock.

Rates shift with the dollar and with container arrivals, so confirm the day’s figure on WhatsApp at 03192070022 before you hand over money.

Pallet purchases sit at the bottom of these ranges. Walking into Saddar for two panels puts you at the top, or slightly above it.

Where people actually buy in Karachi

Saddar is the main wholesale hub. Preedy Street, the Regal area and the surrounding electronics lanes carry the bulk of the imported module stock in the city. Prices there are genuinely the market floor, but Saddar is set up for trade buyers rather than households, and a first-time buyer walking in cold will usually pay a retail markup while thinking they got a wholesale rate.

Beyond Saddar you have dealers scattered through Shahrah-e-Faisal, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad, Malir and the DHA commercial strips. These are more comfortable to deal with and typically run three to seven percent above Saddar, which pays for the showroom and, usually, for someone answering the phone after the sale.

Our own head office is in Saddar, which is how we keep the rate close to market while still delivering to your door in Clifton, Bahadurabad or Gulistan-e-Johar. More about how we work is on our about us page.

Karachi sunlight, and what it means for sizing

Karachi gets somewhere around five to six peak sun hours a day averaged across the year, which is good but not the best in the country. Interior Sindh and southern Punjab do better. Coastal humidity and the dust that comes with it knock a few percent off real output compared with the datasheet.

As a working rule for this city, 1kW of installed panels produces roughly four to five units a day. So:

System sizeApproximate daily unitsApproximate monthly units
3kW12 – 15360 – 450
5kW20 – 25600 – 750
10kW40 – 481,150 – 1,400
15kW60 – 721,750 – 2,100

Take your last twelve K-Electric bills, average the units, and size against that. Sizing against your worst summer month gives you a system that sits half idle from November to March.

Salt air is a real problem here, and most quotes ignore it

If you live in Clifton, DHA, Keamari or anywhere within a few kilometres of the sea, your installation faces something Lahore does not: salt mist corrosion.

Three things matter. First, the mounting structure. Ordinary mild steel with a thin paint coat will rust through in coastal Karachi faster than you would believe. Hot-dip galvanised or aluminium is worth the extra cost. Second, ask whether the module carries salt mist corrosion certification. Most Tier-1 modules do, but ask rather than assume. Third, junction box sealing. IP68 is the standard you want.

Also, Karachi rooftops collect an impressive amount of dust. Panels here need washing more often than the national average, roughly every two to three weeks in dry months. It takes ten minutes with a soft brush and plain water in the early morning. Skipping it costs you five to fifteen percent of your output, which is more than any brand choice you will agonise over.

K-Electric net billing in 2026

Karachi sits under K-Electric rather than a WAPDA DISCO, and the same NEPRA Prosumer Regulations 2026 apply here as everywhere else.

Since 9 February 2026, new applicants fall under net billing rather than net metering. Your exported units are bought at roughly Rs 8 to Rs 11 per unit depending on the notified rate, while imports are charged at your full slab tariff. Consumers who already held a valid agreement before that date keep their old one-to-one terms until it expires.

For Karachi specifically, this changes the calculation in an interesting way. This city has serious daytime cooling load. Air conditioners run when the sun is up, which is exactly when the panels are producing. A house in Gulshan running two ACs through a July afternoon is consuming its own generation almost in real time, which is now the most valuable thing solar can do for you.

The process itself runs through K-Electric’s net metering cell. Your installer files it, because individual consumers generally cannot submit directly. Expect a bidirectional meter, an inspection, a licensing fee charged per kilowatt, and a few weeks of waiting.

On storage, lithium battery prices in Karachi move week to week and any figure printed here would be stale by the time you read it. WhatsApp us now for the latest price of the battery at 03192070022.

Rough system costs in Karachi

SystemTypeApproximate installed cost
3kWOn-gridRs 380,000 – 520,000
5kWOn-gridRs 620,000 – 820,000
10kWOn-gridRs 1,050,000 – 1,350,000
10kWHybrid, battery quoted separatelyRs 1,250,000 – 1,600,000

These cover panels, inverter, mounting, cabling, protections, labour and standard paperwork. The full line-by-line breakdown of where that money goes is in our 10kW solar system price in Pakistan guide.

Karachi-specific costs that get left off quotes: crane or hoist charges for high-rise or narrow-lane access in older parts of the city, extra cable runs where the roof sits far from the meter board, and structure upgrades for coastal exposure. Ask about all three before signing.

Roof type changes the quote more than people expect

Karachi housing is varied enough that two homes on the same street can get very different structure costs.

A standard RCC roof on a 120 or 240 square yard house is the easy case. Standard elevated structure, ballasted or bolted, no drama. Budget the normal figure.

An older house with a weaker slab may need the structure load spread more carefully, and sometimes the installer will refuse a heavy dual-glass module and steer you to a lighter mono-facial panel. That is a reasonable call, not an upsell.

Apartment buildings and flats are the difficult category. Shared rooftops need society or building management approval, and the cable run from roof to your individual meter can be long and expensive. Get the written permission first, before you get quotes, because the approval is usually the part that fails.

Tin sheds and warehouse roofs, common in Korangi, Landhi and the SITE area, need clamp-mounted structures rather than the standard elevated frame. Cheaper on steel, but the roof sheet itself has to be sound.

How long an installation takes here

For a straightforward residential system, the physical work is short. Structure fabrication and erection takes a day or two. Panel mounting and DC wiring, another day. Inverter mounting, AC connection, earthing and commissioning, one more. So three to four working days on site for a typical home system, assuming material is in stock and nobody discovers a surprise on the roof.

The paperwork is the long pole. The net billing application through K-Electric, inspection and bidirectional meter installation typically runs several weeks and occasionally longer. Your system can run on self-consumption during that period, so there is no reason to delay commissioning while you wait.

How to avoid the two common Karachi traps

The pallet-rate bait. A dealer quotes Rs 40 per watt on the phone, you arrive, and it turns out that rate applied to a full pallet of thirty-one panels. For a ten-panel order the rate is higher. This is not dishonest exactly, but it wastes your afternoon. Ask for the rate at your specific quantity.

The relabelled panel. Karachi’s size means the widest choice in the country and also the widest range of quality. Panels described as N-type that are actually P-type appear here regularly, usually in the cheaper corners of the market. The nameplate on the back tells you the model code. Cross-check it against the manufacturer’s series before payment. If the seller resists that, you have your answer.

Delivery across Karachi and beyond

We deliver across the whole city, Clifton, DHA all phases, Gulshan, Gulistan-e-Johar, North Nazimabad, Federal B Area, Malir, Korangi, Landhi, Nazimabad, PECHS, Bahadurabad, Shah Faisal Colony and Scheme 33 included. Same-city delivery on in-stock items is usually quick.

And because our stock sits at the port city, we also handle nationwide delivery from here to the rest of Pakistan at rates that stay close to the Karachi floor. Current stock and wattages are listed on our products page.

Around Rs 40 to Rs 43.5 per watt for A-grade Tier-1 N-type modules in August 2026. A 585W panel comes to roughly Rs 23,400 to Rs 25,500.

Usually by two to four rupees per watt on identical stock, because Karachi is the port of entry and has the most dealers competing.

Saddar carries the wholesale rates. It is best suited to bulk buyers who already know exactly what model they want.

Roughly an 8kW to 9kW system in Karachi conditions. With 585W modules that is around fourteen to sixteen panels, subject to roof space and shading.

New applications since February 2026 go through net billing instead, with a lower export rate. Existing agreements signed before that date continue on their original terms.

It depends on how much load shedding your area gets and how much of your consumption happens after sunset. Message us with your area and bill and we will give you a straight answer.

The short version

Buy in Karachi if you can, because you are already standing where the panels are cheapest. Insist on the model code in writing. Spend the extra on a galvanised or aluminium structure if you are near the coast. Wash the panels. Size the system to your average bill rather than your July bill.
