If you only want the number, here it is. A-grade, Tier-1, documented N-type panels are trading at roughly Rs 40 to Rs 48 per watt in Pakistan right now. B-grade and older P-type stock sits lower, somewhere around Rs 30 to Rs 38 per watt, and there is a reason for that gap which I will get to.
That per-watt figure is the only number that matters when you compare quotes. Panels in Pakistan are not sold by the piece the way a fan or a fridge is. They are sold by the watt. Once you know the rate per watt, any quote in the country can be checked in about ten seconds with a calculator.
Prices move. They moved twice this month. So treat everything below as a reference range from the Saddar Karachi and Hall Road Lahore markets, and confirm the day’s actual rate on WhatsApp at 03192070022 before you commit money.

These are pallet rates. Buying loose panels, one or two at a time, usually adds a rupee or so per watt because the dealer has to break a pallet and eat the handling.
What that works out to per panel
Multiply the rate by the wattage. That is the whole formula.

Two panels can carry the same 585W sticker and differ by four or five thousand rupees. That is not a scam by itself. Cell technology, glass type, frame thickness, warranty backing and whether the importer actually has papers all sit inside that spread.

Why the price keeps sliding around
Four things push the number.
The dollar. Panels arrive in containers, paid for in USD. The rupee has been trading in the Rs 278 to Rs 282 band through August, which is calmer than the spring. A steady rupee is the main reason rates eased by two to four rupees per watt compared with two months ago. If the rupee slips, the rate follows within days.
Global cell costs. Silver paste and copper got more expensive worldwide this year. That fed straight into module cost and undid part of the price drop everyone got used to in 2024 and 2025.
Freight and clearing. Karachi port is where the containers land. Every kilometre inland after that is added cost, which is why the same panel is cheaper in Karachi than in Peshawar or Gilgit.
Demand season. March through August is when everyone in Pakistan wants solar. Dealers know it. Winter buying, roughly November to January, is genuinely cheaper if you can wait, though waiting also means paying six more electricity bills.
A-grade versus B-grade, and why it matters more than the discount
B-grade panels are real panels. They are not fake. They are modules that failed the manufacturer’s cosmetic or electrical binning, so they may have hairline cracks, colour mismatch across cells, a slightly bent frame, or output a few percent under the rating.
They are fine for a tube well, a barn, a boundary wall light, a shed. They are a poor idea for a house roof you intend to keep for twenty years, and they will usually not clear a net metering inspection because the documentation is thin or missing.
The trap most buyers fall into is a different one. A dealer says “N-type bifacial 585W” and hands over a genuinely bifacial panel that happens to be P-type, which is older and less efficient. You paid an N-type rate for P-type output. Check the nameplate on the back: model number, wattage, Voc, Isc, and a machine-printed serial. Photograph it before the panel goes on your roof, not after.
Anything priced dramatically below the ranges in the table above is telling you something. Over a twenty-five year asset, three thousand rupees saved per panel is nothing against the units you never generate.

The gap is usually two to four rupees per watt between Karachi and the north. On a 10kW system that is between twenty and forty thousand rupees, which is real money but not enough to justify arranging your own transport and taking the breakage risk yourself.
Panels are only about half your system
This is where a lot of first-time buyers get their budget wrong. They price the panels, feel good about the number, then discover the rest.
For a typical residential setup, panels are roughly 45 to 55 percent of the installed cost. The inverter is another 15 to 20 percent. Mounting structure, DC and AC cable, breakers, surge protection, earthing, labour and paperwork make up the balance.

What net billing changed in 2026
On 9 February 2026, NEPRA replaced the old net metering framework with net billing under the Prosumer Regulations 2026. The short version: exported units and imported units are no longer treated as equal.
Under the old rules your meter effectively ran backwards at a one-to-one exchange. Now the grid buys your surplus at roughly Rs 8 to Rs 11 per unit, depending on the notified rate, while you keep buying from the grid at your full slab tariff, which for most households sits somewhere between Rs 40 and Rs 60 per unit.
Anyone holding a valid net metering agreement dated before 9 February 2026 was grandfathered and keeps the old terms until that contract expires. Applications filed after that date fall under net billing.
What this means practically: stop designing systems to export. Design them to be used. Every unit you consume yourself during daylight saves you the full retail tariff. Every unit you push to the grid earns you a fraction of that. Run the washing machine, the water pump, the iron and the AC between 10am and 4pm and the maths works out very differently from someone who runs everything at night.
It also means panel efficiency matters more than it used to. If your roof is fixed in size, higher-wattage modules let you fit more generation into the same square footage, which raises the share of your own consumption you can cover. That is a large part of why 645W and 720W modules have become popular here this year even though they cost more per panel.
How to check a quote before you sign it
Take the quoted total, subtract the inverter and installation line items if they are itemised, then divide the panel line by total wattage. If the answer is far above the table at the top of this page, ask why. There may be a good reason, like a premium back-contact module or a longer workmanship warranty. There may not be.
Ask for the brand, the exact model code, the wattage, and confirmation of A-grade with documentation. A dealer who will not put the model code in writing is a dealer to walk away from.
Ask who handles the net billing application. Individual consumers usually cannot file directly with most DISCOs, so your installer does it. Confirm that before payment, not after.
